PolkaPort East Receives Web3 Foundation Grant to Promote Polkadot Adoption in Asia

PolkaPort East, an autonomous organization responsible for leading the growth strategies and investor relations of Polkadot in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, has recently been awarded a grant from the Web3 Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to fostering the expansion of the Polkadot ecosystem. The grant, known as the Decentralized Futures (DF) grant, aims to drive the adoption of Polkadot’s technical advancements, as well as promote community involvement and contribute to the further decentralization of the platform.

This grant is particularly noteworthy as it is the first of its kind to be awarded to an Asian organization. PolkaPort East plans to utilize this funding to spearhead Polkadot’s regional expansion efforts and establish connections with investors. Additionally, the organization aims to play a vital role in attracting capital into the ecosystem and raising awareness about Polkadot and its technology.

Max Rebol, co-founder of PolkaPort East and CEO of Harbour Industrial Capital, a venture capital fund focused on Polkadot, expressed his excitement about the grant. He stated that it will greatly support the organization in achieving its objectives.

David Hawig, the Director of Ecosystem at Web3 Foundation, also commented on the grant. He emphasized the foundation’s commitment to supporting organizations like PolkaPort East and their efforts to drive the adoption of Polkadot.

Upon receiving the DF grant, Vincent Chan, another co-founder of PolkaPort East and a former employee of Parity Technologies, provided further insight into the initiative’s goals. He explained that the primary objective is to attract users to the Polkadot ecosystem across Asia. This includes various stakeholders such as web3 investors, Polkadot-native venture capital firms, funds, and developers who are interested in expanding on Polkadot. The initiative will also target fintech companies looking to enter the web3 space, local governments exploring blockchain technology applications, as well as blockchain collectives and associations in Asian universities.

Overall, the DF grant from Web3 Foundation has provided PolkaPort East with the necessary resources to drive the growth and adoption of Polkadot throughout the Asian region. With their strategic approach and focus on connecting with investors, the organization aims to play a crucial role in expanding the Polkadot ecosystem.
