Sophon and Aethir have announced the beginning of a strategic partnership that will connect Aethir’s 800,000 strong decentralized computing community with the over 3 million people who signed up for Sophon’s pre-launch campaigns.
Aethir will make its debut on Sophon following its mainnet launch in Q3 2024 as part of the partnership. The two projects will also conduct a node swap between their communities, as both have recently completed successful node sales to the public.
Aethir powers GPU-intensive applications such as cloud gaming and AI/ML training through its distributed compute network. The Aethir network consists of infrastructure for verifications and rewards, as well as the compute providers themselves. On Sophon, the former will primarily handle the verification and rewards distribution process. Additionally, Aethir will launch a permissionless computing platform available on Sophon.
Moreover, Sophon will operate Aethir checker nodes to ensure the network’s resilience and reliability. To ensure both communities have a stake in the partnership’s success, Sophon and Aethir node operators will receive a portion of each partner’s tokens as part of the node swap and broader collaboration.

ZKsync is the driving force behind Sophon, a modular blockchain based on the ZK Stack architecture. Founded by former executives of ZKsync and backed by various funding sources, including Spartan, SevenX, OKX Ventures, Huobi Ventures, and others, it will be one of the first examples of the expanded and modular ZK Stack, enabling organizations to launch highly secure and scalable EVM-based chains. Sophon will benefit from low latency without sacrificing security, as it is built on the same technological stack as ZKsync Era, while many competing L2 solutions remain heavily centralized in crucial functions.
