Since June 2023, Deutsche Telekom has been actively involved in the Web3 ecosystem as a Polygon validator. This strategic move has positioned the telecom company to leverage its extensive infrastructure for new revenue streams. Serving as one of 100 validators, Deutsche Telekom has been supporting Polygon’s proof-of-stake consensus process, offering staking and validation services.
In a groundbreaking partnership with Fetch.ai, a decentralized AI platform, Deutsche Telekom ventured into the realm of corporate AI in February. By validating transactions on Fetch.ai’s blockchain, the telecom giant plays a crucial role in supporting Fetch.ai’s autonomous agents powered by artificial intelligence. These agents, empowered with resource management, transaction processing, and traffic flow analysis capabilities, deliver services in digital identities, healthcare, and the automotive sector.
During his speech at BTC Prague, Dirk Röder, responsible for Web3 infrastructure and solutions at Deutsche Telekom, shared the company’s ambitious plans. He highlighted the expansion of Web3 and the recent foray into Bitcoin mining. Operating Bitcoin nodes since 2023, Deutsche Telekom has now ventured into running Bitcoin Lightning Network nodes as well, signaling its commitment to the crypto sector.
Recent market trends have seen a surge in Bitcoin sales, with miners offloading more reserves than in previous months. This phenomenon, influenced by fluctuating cryptocurrency prices and increased liquidations, underscores the significance of miners’ decisions in shaping market dynamics.
