Dora Factory, the leading decentralized governance technology and public good funding infrastructure, has announced a gas fee airdrop of its native token, $DORA, to all ATOM stakers on June 5, 2024. The $DORA token airdrop campaign encourages the Cosmos community to participate in the governance of its democratic public goods funding program, the ATOM Economic Zone Quadratic funding, on DoraHacks.io. Over a million addresses are eligible to receive the token. The upcoming privacy voting round, which will be the largest MACI (Minimum Anti Collusion Infrastructure) voting round ever, has whitelisted 1.05 million addresses.
1.05 Million ATOM Stakers Eligible for Airdrop
On June 5, all ATOM stakers received $DORA tokens in their wallets. The $DORA token is the native token of the decentralized governance application chain Dora Vota, built by Dora Factory using the Cosmos SDK.
This airdrop is one of the largest in history. With over a million addresses involved, Dora Factory aims to inspire the Cosmos community, known for its passion for decentralized governance, to take part in a significant community-wide public goods governance experiment.
Launch of AEZ Quadratic Funding
After receiving the airdrop, Cosmos communities can participate in the ATOM Economic Zone (AEZ) quadratic funding initiative, jointly launched by DoraHacks, Dora Factory, and ATOM Accelerator DAO. Users can use ATOM to support early-stage developers, vote for and donate to valued public goods teams, and determine the allocation of 80,000 ATOM and $200,000 USDC matching fund over 10 rounds of AEZ Quadratic Funding and MACI voting. $DORA can be used for gas fees, and the smart contracts for this quadratic voting round are deployed on the Dora Vota network.
This campaign is a democratic governance experiment aimed at mobilizing community power for public goods and talented early-stage developers. It goes beyond simply distributing the reward pool to early-stage projects and crucial public goods in AEZ in the initial round. The quadratic funding system ensures that small donations from community members have a significant impact.
MACI Voting with Privacy Protection
Community members are invited to participate in the MACI (Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure) privacy voting conducted by Dora Factory. Selected teams will receive a $20,000 USDC prize pool. Unlike traditional quadratic voting, this approach allows voters to express their opinions on public goods without revealing their identity (address). More ATOM staked addresses will receive more Voice Credits, or voting power.
Dora Factory aims to provide the Cosmos community with cutting-edge privacy-enabled voting technology through MACI voting. This initiative will enable a wider range of governance use cases in the future to utilize secure, private, and anti-collusion technologies.
Dora Factory’s Commitment
To ensure that every community member can vote without any concerns, Dora Factory will use the native Gas Station feature of Dora Vota to cover all voting fees during the MACI voting round. This fee subsidy reflects Dora Factory’s commitment to the community, as outlined in Cosmos Governance Proposal 917.
A Historic Community Governance Event
With the native integration of the quadratic funding module into Dora Vota for the Cosmos Hub, Cosmos has the potential to become one of the largest on-chain communities supporting public goods. The first phase of the two-year quadratic funding plan for the ATOM Economic Zone, set to begin in June 2024, has attracted interest from several outstanding projects and awaits the attention and support of community members.
The Largest Privacy-Preserving Governance Experiment
The Cosmos community has achieved a significant milestone with the implementation of MACI, its first foray into privacy voting. With over a million addresses added to Dora Factory’s whitelist, this marks the largest whitelist and the most extensive voting experiment in MACI’s history. The Dora Factory team is excited to invite the Cosmos community to come together and make history collectively.
